Email Subject Lines And How To Write A Good One

When it comes to email marketing, there's a part of creating the emails that you have to do right. What part am I talking about? Well, I'm talking about writing the email subject lines. Because let's face it. If nobody opens up your emails, how will you make money? It just won't happen.

But if you can learn and master the art of writing email subject lines, you will experience more opened emails, more clicks to your website, more website traffic, and ultimately... more sales. So if you're not a master, I suggest that you study up on how to become one starting right away.

Luckily, writing effective email subject lines is easy. They're akin to writing classified ads. But you don't even have to delve that far into it. All you have to do is write 1 simple line of copy that will entice people to click on your email. And I am certainly confident that you can do this.

So how can you get on the path to writing a great email subject line? Well, there are a few ways, and in today's lesson, I want to share with you some of these ways so that you can gain a better understanding of what to do - and how to make it happen. Here's the first tip for writing good email subject lines.

1) Use personalization

I like to use my prospects' and customers' first name in my emails. It grabs their attention, makes it seem personal, and definitely increases click through rates. This opposed to just collecting an email address is certainly more effective. And multiple tests have proved this also.

Now you will get some people saying that it doesn't matter if you use personalization versus just using someone's email address. But guess what... personalization is better. Did you know that there are "bots" online that can type in an email address in a web form - thereby giving the perception that you're getting a lot of leads to your email list? It's true. So if you can offer a first name and require it... it'll be much better for your results.

Here's another tip for writing good email subject lines:

2) Get a swipe file

A swipe file is simply a collection of winning ads and sales letters. But some of the best swipe files have a section that involves the most effective headlines that has ever been created. You can use this to your advantage definitely, and it will certainly lower the efforts on your behalf to come up with a good subject line.

Simply do a Google search on the term "swipe file" or "free swipe file", and you will see some good results come up. Study them intensely, then start trying to write your own good headlines and subject lines on your own. It would be a great exercise and experiment to see what works and what doesn't.

No matter how you come up with a great email subject line, you will want to test it and continue to run it. Once you write great email subject lines, you will see that your results are improving. And this can only lead to more sales. Be sure to start using them to your advantage today.

Good luck with your email writing efforts.
